One Room Challenge - Week one Fall 2018
Updated: Oct 11, 2018
Some of you may have seen from my instagram story and Facebook posts that I decided to jump in as a guest designer on the HUGELY popular One Room Challenge.

I have always put off truly designing master retreat for myself, in the same fashion that I would for a client. Why is that? I have a ton of excuses. Too busy to focus on a room no one sees is a big one. Except I spend a large portion of my life in that room! Hello its the first thing I see when I wake up and the last before drifting off into a perfect slumber. So I've decided its time to make it beautiful and inspiring. In the most insane sped up way possible. As if I didn't have enough stress in my life haha. Enter the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE.
Are you not familiar?
The One Room Challenge™, currently in its fourteenth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every April and October. Each round, twenty design bloggers take the challenge and transform a space. In only SIX WEEKS!! Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over the six weekly posts. On Thursday is when you will see all the guest participants post their progress. 6 weeks might sound like an easy timeframe to turn around a design, but I assure you, it is not. I'm already shaking in my boots hoping to complete on time, now that I have put my plans on blast haha. Without further ado, let's take a look at the room that needs a lot of loving. Behold my sad master bedroom.

So what is the plan you ask? Well first of all I'm itching for a new bed. I bought this current bed about 7 years ago. It worked well in our old house, but now it looks blah and I'm over the color of it in my new house. (Yes that is an oscillating fan on my dresser. I am a hot box - will try to figure out a better solution for that eye sore too ha.) The bed is going to be the most stressful part of this whole thing as the side rails are on backorder until next week - which means we are really crunching for time here after shipping (bitting my nails in nervousness.)

I would love new floors, but that is just not in the cards right now. So will have to get creative with that. I'll be keeping my night stands and lamps, but I'm thinking this is what will be done in the design plan:
1. Bench or chairs are needed at the foot of the bed
2. Wallpaper the headboard wall
3. NEW BED
4. New bedding and drapery
5. Get giant wall decor to storage and something over the dresser.
6. Wall art
Here is a quick mood board of my plan.

I'll go into further detail about the full plan and why I chose what I the items to fill the space next week, but first I need your opinion! Mirrors or no mirrors? Here is Option 2 mood board with the mirrors.

I'm only doing one wall of wallpaper, so I'm undecided if I want to cover up a good portion of it with mirrors. And since no question of mine seems to ever be a simple one, if I do mirrors, should I go with the antiqued ones or the one shown below?? HALPP!

Mirror? No mirror? Which mirror? Follow my Instagram stories for behind the scenes tips and blunders along the way!! Thanks for stopping by!
